Halti nasjonalparksenter
At the Halti National Park Visitor Centre in Storslett, Nordeisa, you can learn more about how Norwegians, Sámi and Kvens use the northern Troms countryside.

The Centre is in Halti, a building that also houses the local tourist information office, the public library and a business centre. The name Halti derives from Ráisduottarháldi, a peak on the border between Norway and Finland where the Reisa National Park starts. The Finnish manner of spelling the name has been chosen because Nordreisa has a large Kven population and an active Kven culture.

Provides

  • Information on national parks
  • An exhibition on the natural history of the Reisa National Park and the surrounding district, presented through displays and plasma screens
  • Information on how Norwegians, Sámi and Kvens use the countryside
  • Excursions, activities and courses in association with local organisations
The Centre shares premises in the Halti Building with the local tourist information office, Nordreisa Public Library and Halti Business Centre.

When the next phase of the Halti Building is completed, there will be an integrated Kven Cultural Centre and National Park Visitor Centre which will have informative displays on the botany, animal and bird life, geology, lakes and rivers, travel, use and management of the park, and on the migrations of Kvens in northern Fennoscandia, how they earned their living, where they originated, etc. Read more about these plans at Nordreisa kommune.

Organisation
Pending the completion of the combined Halti National Park Visitor Centre and Kven Cultural Centre, the Centre is being run as an independent unit of the municipal Department for Development in Nordreisa. For more information, visit Halti nasjonalparksenter
