In what was a general store in Kvinnherad for a hundred years, you can now learn about the natural history of the third largest glacier in Norway and its surroundings through photographs, films and texts.
The store is called Guddalsbua and dates from 1906. It is in the centre of Rosendal in the county of Hordaland and is now the Folgefonna National Park Visitor Centre, providing information on the natural history and cultural history of the Folgefonna peninsula.
Folgefonna National Park was designated in 2005, and it was then that Guddalsbua was accredited as a national park visitor centre. A new exhibition about the park was opened and information on some of the large valleys leading from the fjord to the glacier is also provided. A slide show, “Drama in rock”, provides an insight into the fascinating geological history of the Folgefonna peninsula.

Guddalsbua also houses the local tourist information office. A stone park and a shipbuilding museum are close by.

The Centre aims to provide inspiring information on the Folgefonna National Park that will persuade visitors to use the park actively.
Organisation
The Folgefonna National Park Visitor Centre is owned and run by the Borough of Kvinnherad.
Small exhibitions with photographs and information on the Folgefonna National Park are already available at the gateways to the park at Herand in Jondal and Åkrafjordtunet in Etne, and similar displays are being prepared in the boroughs of Ullensvang and Odda.
